“The thrill of the chase comes through in the film” – Denver Post
A fan-generated chronicle of the street artist’s one-month residency in New York last October 2013.
HBO film documents the “Banksy Fever” using Internet footage – Instagram, YouTube, Vine – and everything comes in handy.
Director Chris Murkabel crowd-sourced most of the material for the movie using two hashtags: #banksy and #banksyny.
From Williamsburg and Staten Island to Bushwick and the Lower East Side, Banksy and his team took to the streets every day over the course of a month to secretly create a variety of public works ranging from elaborate conceptual stunts to traditional graffiti art.
The artworks ranged from his trademark wry pop-culture-rooted graffiti to a truckload of stuffed sheep to a street-vendor table where fans blew the chance to become instant millionaires: Banksy sold the works for $60 to random passers-by, with the collectors’ price standing at $250,000 for a piece.
